He finds himself with two options - the beautiful, but weak Lucy Westenra, or the clever, clever Mina Murray. By picking Mina, he finds that she grows in strength over time, becoming more powerful than Lucy ever was. While Dracula finds himself unable to keep up with her at first, he eventually finds a way to overcome her. He does this in part by learning from her in their time together.
